The 12 M-Net Face of Africa semi-finalists impressed the designers behind the scenes at Swahili Fashion Week as they came through their first round of castings last week – but now comes the real test as they take to the runway in front of media, fashion experts – and most importantly, the Face of Africa judging team! During Saturday’s episode (January 23 at 19:00 CAT on M-Net), DStv audiences will see all 12 semi-finalists take to the catwalk at Swahili Fashion Week as they try to impress the judges enough to make it into the Top 10 for the glamorous live finale in Lagos on February 6. The models – our semi-finalists can officially be called models. now, having given their best at East Africa’s premiere fashion event – spend hours in hair and makeup being glammed up to the maximum before taking to the ramp. Viewers also get to find out a bit more about Zambian Lukando (the tomboy who has surprised all her friends by blossoming into a high-fashion model), South Africa’s Thembi (who a few months ago was quietly finishing school and practicing her DJ-ing skills), Angola’s Esperanza (who had been to model castings before but never been selected for a show) and Tanzanian Lilian (the talkative, sharp-tongued extrovert) as the four finalists take the Face of Africa cameras to their home towns.
