The management of Ghanaian artiste Fameye has released a statement detailing the circumstances behind his recent flop performance in the UK.
This comes after Fameye was seen in a viral video angrily confronting a DJ and event organisers during his performance at the 'Xmas Highlife concert' in London on December 15, 2024.
Fameye was frustrated because the DJ did not play his requested songs and versions, disrupting his performance.
Despite practicing three times with the DJ, the issues persisted, leading Fameye to storm off the stage in frustration.
However, a statement released by his management on December 16, 2024, blamed the incident on unprofessional treatment from the event's DJ.
“While we understand that technical issues and miscommunications can arise in live performances, the level of unprofessionalism displayed was disappointing and disrespectful to both Fameye and his loyal fans. This incident disrupted the flow of what should have been a memorable experience for everyone in attendance,” the statement said.
According to Fameye's team, efforts were made to bring his official DJ from Ghana or Belgium to ensure a seamless performance.
However, the event organisers insisted on using a DJ they had already booked, which did not align with the standards of the Fameye brand.
Despite these concerns, Fameye's team decided to proceed out of respect for the fans.
“Sadly, this decision has come at a great cost, as it impacted Fameye's ability to deliver the outstanding performance we had promised his fans,” the statement continued.
Fameye's team expressed their disappointment, noting that such incidents affect not only the artist but also the fans who support his work.
The statement added that Fameye remains committed to providing excellent performances and urged event organisers to uphold high standards of professionalism to ensure that both artists and fans are treated with respect and dignity.
“As we move forward, we urge event organizers and their teams to uphold the highest standards of professionalism to ensure that every artist and fan is treated with respect and dignity,” the letter read.
Meanwhile, the organisers of the event are yet to explain their side of the story.
