Farmer commits suicide after slashing wife

Sunyani July 13, GNA - Kofi Apenteng, a 45-year-old farmer, at Goaso in Asunafo District of the Brong Ahafo Region, has allegedly committed suicide after inflicting cutlass wounds on his wife. Inspector of Police Christopher Tawiah, Regional Police Public Relations Officer, told the Ghana News Agency in Sunyani, that Apenteng inflicted the wounds on his wife Madam Vivian, after a misunderstanding on July 2, this year and fled the scene.

He said neighbours who heard the shout of Madam Vivian for help rushed to the scene and met her lying unconscious. She was rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi where she is responding to treatment.

Inspector Tawiah said Apenteng was later found hanging on a tree in his cocoa farm and his body had since been released to his relatives for burial after an autopsy.

In another development, the police are investigating a case in which one Peregozio, 52, a Moshie, is alleged to have killed one Sankara Zabri, 32, at Birenpua village, near Buoyem in the Techiman Municipality.

Inspector Tawiah said Peregozio after murdering the deceased cut his body into two and dumped it into a well at the village. He said the decomposed body was found floating in the well on July 1, this year and has since been buried after autopsy, whilst the suspect has been placed in prison custody.
