The Tema magistrate's court last Thursday remanded into prison custody, a fisherman who took advantage of the intoxication of a married woman and raped her during the celebration of the Homowo festival last year.
Ogli Obed Narh whose plea was scheduled re-appear yesterday May 26, 2003.
Inspector Matilda Tetteh, prosecuting, told the court presided over by Mrs. Florence Ninepence that on August 21, 2002, during the celebration of the Homowo festival at Kpone, the woman went out with friends to celebrate the occasion and became drunk until about 7 pm.
She said when her husband went out to look for her, he found his wife in town heavily drunk and out of anger, slapped her so a witness who happened to be around, intervened and took the woman to a nearby ghetto for her to become sober before returning home.
The prosecution said at about 8 pm, the woman's husband decided to go and assist her drunken wife to go home, but on reaching the ghetto, he found his wife naked as Narh had taken advantage of the drunkenness of the woman and had sex with her several times without her consent.N arh struggled with the victim's husband and managed to escape, leaving his underwear.
Inspector Tetteh said the man went with his wife and made a report to the Kpone police who gave her a medical report form to attend hospital.
