Footprint Tv Here To Gospel’s Rescue

Ghana’s Christian arts and lifestyle reportage has taken to another level with the emergence of a creative television programme branded Footprint TV show. The TV show which airs every Sunday at 2:30 pm on TV3 and is repeated daily on Skyy TV Channel, Fiesta, at 6:30 am on weekdays, is receiving rave reviews among industry greats and TV viewers, especially Christian entertainment fans for the initiative and ingenuity gathered content with quality pictures to match. A fan interviewed by this writer likened Footprint TV as the ‘gospel type of 4syte TV’ (though both are from different production houses) to cut short the various labels attributed to Footprint TV, showing the level of its impact ever since it started airing a few months back.

The head of marketing for Footprint TV, Isaac Asamani, in an interview with this writer revealed the aim behind the much talked about TV programme. ‘We first realised that Christian arts and entertainment in Ghana has seen tremendous change for the better but lacked good and creative reportage across media. Secondly, most popular lifestyle trends within society, especially among the youth, were detrimental to society’s moral fibre and dented the very essence of Christian principles. Being Christians were also felt there was more to be done to propagate the gospel through Christian arts and lifestyle. Therefore since TV is among the greatest tools for information dissemination, education and change we adopted and carved a programme to remedy the observations I listed earlier,’ Isaac recounted.

‘The feedback has been great and we intend to continue in the strides established so far and further bring on board innovations that will identify Footprint TV Show as a notable TV programme in Africa first and then worldwide whenever Christian entertainment and lifestyle coverage is mentioned. We encourage corporate bodies and organisations which have our audience as target markets to come on board in order to realise their set goals,’ Ezekiel Tetteh, head of productions, added when asked what Footprint intended to achieve in the coming years.

Footprint TV show is a new television programme focused on Christian entertainment and lifestyle and appeals to all people, Christians and non-Christians. It showcases the fun side of Christian life, covers Church programmes, exposes talents among young people, promotes mentoring to aid the realisation of purposeful living and addresses societal concerns while spreading the gospel. It is the first Christian entertainment TV program on primetime TV that mainly covers Christian arts such as music, dance, drama, poetry, among others through events coverage and as well delves into thorny issues that affect the Church and society. The show airs currently on TV3 Network (Sundays 2:30pm) and is repeated daily on SKYY TV (Fiesta-Monday-Fridays 6:30am) with plans in progress for airing on more TV stations for greater reach with the gospel. The programme has covered almost all major gospel concerts organised for the last three months. Hosted by 2011 RTP (Radio & Television Personality) Award winner for Best Radio Show Host, Fifi Folson of Sunny FM’s Sunset Drive fame and Pearl Opoku, the program is in three (3) segments namely: Fun Side, Potter’s Guide and Gospel Top 5. The Fun side segment focuses on the entertainment aspects of church life. For example, churches fun games, theatre show, week celebrations, excursions, Christian concerts, among others. This segment also promotes Christian events and encourages the general public to patronize these events.

Having the purpose to afford viewers to know their gospel musicians and how life in Christ has benefited them, the Top 5 segment is an interview segment where top gospel artists both local and international (though mainly home based artistes are interviewed in order to promote Ghana’s gospel music) reveal all about their music ministry and then advice upcoming gospel artistes. Potters’ Guide segment picks on relevant issues facing society and young people all over the world with special reference to Ghana and seeks the views and pieces of advice of both young and old Christian professionals and season men of God. This segment enables viewers to make informed decisions.
