Controversial counsellor cum Pastor, Counsellor George Cyril Lutterodt has said the cliché ‘for better, for worse’ is not biblical.
According to him, it is more of a social or legal term but not a spiritual term.
“The church doesn’t have marriage. Marriage is not for the church but for the family,” he said.
Counsellor Lutterodt believes that the church is preaching bad doctrine to the congregation that is why, people are doing ‘my beloved’ in church and would not get married till they turn 41-years, a stage he termed as ‘MFS’.
The Marriage counsellor stressed that “98 percent of bad marriages are caused by pastors.”
Asking why he came about this assertion, George Lutterodt said, he was shocked to see that some churches hold engagement ceremonies which are supposed to be for the families in their church and follow it up with the wedding ceremony.
He stated that the blessings of marriage do not come from the church or pastor but rather the parents of the couple.
“That is why the bible states that for this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh” he noted.
Speaking on the topic ‘Abusive marriage; the role of churches’ Counselor Lutterodt explained it is because of the level of fear pastors establish as part of the foundation of marriages that comes from the church.
