The founder of the Universal Spiritual Outreach, Prophet Kwabena Boakye Asiamah, also known as Ajagurajah, has come to the defence of journalist Afia Pokuaa following backlash over her comments about Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
Afia Pokua, a journalist at Agoo TV, faced significant backlash for criticising the Asantehene over his perceived silence on the ongoing conflict between himself and the Dormaahene.
Her comments, which were made when she appeared on Onua FM’s ‘Bribi Gye Gye wo,’ hosted by Mona Gucci, sparked strong reactions from Ashantis on social media, including prominent figures like Kwaku Manu and Afia Schwarzenegger, who have criticised both Pokua and Mona Gucci for airing such remarks.
Speaking on Kingdom 107.7 FM, Ajagurajah described Pokuaa as a respectful and good person, expressing surprise at the controversy her remarks had caused.
"I’m surprised that the matter escalated to that extent. Because I have known her for a while and that is not how she is. She is very respectful," he stated.
Ajagurajah also noted Pokuaa's remorseful demeanour and pleaded with the offended parties to forgive her.
"I saw how she was looking remorseful, so I beg, I beg those offended to forgive her," he added.
