Former Miss Universe launches debut fashion show

Accra, June 19, GNA - Miss Pearl Amoah, a Ghanaian fashion designer based in the United States, on Friday launched her debut fashion show that lined up apparel that suits African and Western taste.

Her collections, known as "Pearl" would be marketed in Africa, Europe and North America to promote her innovative designs on the global market.

Miss Amoah, who is in her mid 20's and Ghana's 1996 Miss Universe beauty queen, has spent the last 15 years collecting ideas across the globe to enhance her designs, mostly casual and formal wear. She has assembled these influences into new fashion form to convey her strong sense of style and deep understanding of the needs of modern women.

Five beautiful young female models thrilled the cheering crowd at the swimming pool side of a plush hotel in Accra with various shades of "catwalks" typical of such fashion shows. The dexterity of the amateur models was the toast of the night bringing to the fore fashionable dresses mainly in white, pink and blue colours.

The collections, which would be mass-produced in the US, is expected to earn Ghana the foreign exchange needed to advance national development efforts.

Miss Amoah holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Hospitality Management from the West Bourn University, London.
