Former Radio Presenter, Michael Smith, was yesterday arraigned before a Takoradi Court for fraud, enewsgh.com can confirm.
A popular name in the early days of urban radio, he worked at the now-defunct Groove FM (now trading as Adom FM).
He is being held over a fraud case brought against him by a Takoradi-based Businessman. Court sources tell this website that he promised the Businessman a radio frequency, and managed to make away with 122, 000 Cedis, but failed to deliver on his promise.
Smith, who spent the whole of last weekend behind cells at the Takoradi Central Police Station, was subsequently granted bail to the tune of 3 million Ghana cedis. enewsgh.com sources tell us he is yet to fulfil the bail condition.
This is not the first time Smith is having a brush with the law. In Kumasi, where he briefly worked for Hello FM, he was fingered in several reported cases of fraud.
Once a revered on-air personality, he worked for Peace FM, after his Groove FM days, hosting Work and Happiness, the programme currently being handled by Kofi Kum Bilson.
Together with DJ Koffi, they are credited with discovering hiplife group VIP (now VVIP).
