Stand-up comedian, Derrick Kobina Bonney, popularly known as DKB has observed that his colleague, Foster Romanus is next to shine due to his extra-ordinary prowess.
Speaking to Vibez in 5, DKB who has worked hard to clear perceptions that Ghanaian comedians are not funny, said Foster Romanus is the next big thing in Ghana’s comedy industry.
“The one who the light will fall on next is probably Foster because he is strong, he’s an idiot, he doesn’t have common sense, he is basically useless,” he said.
Romanus, known in real life as Foster Owusu Amponsah, started his career as a humourist when he joined Top Class Entertainment a decade ago.
He later participated in the comedy edition of Stars of the Future and placed second. He let go his dream of becoming a chartered accountant and rather opted for comedy.
Foster eventually got admission into the University of Ghana to pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre Arts.
He has said that because of his passion for comedy, he has no regrets abandoning chartered accounting.
The comedian and stage actor made headlines after his outstanding performance at the 20th edition of the longest running comedy series in Ghana, a Night of 1020 Laughs and Music.
A section of the public had opined that the likelihood of Romanus being under pressure to deliver in order to ensure that Ghanaian comedians are given opportunity at subsequent shows was high.
