Broadcast Journalist with Kasapa FM, Akwasi Nsiah has jumped into the argument of whether the four years presidential term must be extended due to the numerous challenges facing the country.

Some are of the view that it will be better if governments are given five years so they will be able to complete most of their projects as the four years is not sufficient.

Speaking in an interview with Kojo Preko Dankwa on Kasapa Entertainment when ace musician, Rex Omar also re-echoed the same point, Akwasi Nsiah indicated that incoming government’s should be made aware that governance is a continuous process thus it will be prudent for them to complete projects initiated by their predecessors instead of trying to build the same thing to gain glory.

According to him, American governments are able to use the same four years to do major developmental projects in their country without calling for extension thus it will be prudent for governments in Ghana to also adjust themselves well and make promises that they will be able to accomplish in the four year mandate.

However, the veteran musician said that the constitution may have overlooked the fact that a four year presidency is not enough for effective development.

According to him, Ghana can’t match up with US in terms of democracy so presidents of a developing nation like Ghana need more than four years to make any significant impact in terms of development.
