Fowl lands farmer in jail

Sekondi, Dec. 17, GNA - A Sekondi District Magistrate's Court on Friday sentenced James Kwofie, a farmer at Anyuom-Kumasi near Sekondi to six months imprisonment in hard labour for stealing a fowl. The accused pleaded guilty to stealing.

Prosecuting, Police Inspector Agnes Boafo told the court that, the accused person, also known as Kobina Ebow, suspected of stealing livestock in his community, was therefore, put under surveillance.

She said at about 1230 hours, on December 1, this year, the accused stole a fowl, took it to his bedroom and strangled it to death. Inspector Boafo said the accused was caught red-handed, while trying to hide the dead fowl under his bed.

She said the accused initially denied the crime but admitted the offence during Police investigation.
