Ghanaian socialite, Afia Schwarzenegger, has condemned Chef Smith for deceiving the public by claiming to be the Guinness World Record holder for the longest cooking marathon.
She criticized Chef Smith's actions as criminal, advocating for the police's intervention to address his deceitful behavior.
Schwarzenegger expressed outrage over Chef Smith's acquisition of GH¢300,000 in sponsorship and his subsequent expenditure on a multi-day cooking endeavor without following official protocols, resulting in wasted resources.
She labeled Chef Smith a fraudster and accused him of maliciously fabricating a GWR certificate to deceive the public.
“The most useless human being and the most wicked person on this planet is this fool...No wonder people don't help anymore....you quietly wasted someone's GH¢300,000 in your lies and you are here shedding crocodile tears over something premeditated.
“Why didn't you die?? You don't deserve to live..you are very wicked, heartless, and a criminal!!!! Forging documents is a crime, and even your chef's certificate is forged. Nkwasiasem know, when we are talking of corruption this one too will be saying some...fraudster,” She wrote on her Instagram page.
Background:
In a widely circulated video on social media, Chef Smith was tearfully seen on his knees alongside two emotional women as he offered a heartfelt apology to the nation, expressing deep regret for his actions.
"I have committed a great sin and I don't even deserve to live anymore. Please forgive me and my entire family. I have wronged the entire nation," he said in Twi.
Chef Smith admitted that although he had applied to attempt breaking the record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual, his application was not approved by Guinness World Records. Despite this, he proceeded with his attempt.
"I registered, but my application was not approved. I just wanted a chance to showcase the talent God has given me. I wanted the opportunity to demonstrate my passion for cooking and gain fame. I apologize," he tearfully expressed.
He mentioned several individuals, including the President, Vice President, former President Mahama and his wife, and Nana Boro, in his apology.
What Happened:
Ghanaian Chef Ebenezer Smith conducted his cooking marathon from February 1 to March 6, 2024, at Amadia Shopping Centre in Spintex, Accra.
On July 2, 2024, Chef Smith claimed to have set a new record for the longest cooking marathon.
However, his claim was disputed by Guinness World Records (GWR), which clarified that they had not received an application from him, the certificate he presented was not valid, and the official record is still held by Alan Fisher of Ireland.
Chef Smith's arrest during a press conference further raised questions. The sponsors of the event, Amadia Shopping Centre, explained that they had a contract with Chef Smith to support his attempt but were unaware of the press conference he organized.
Additionally, the Chefs Association of Ghana clarified that Chef Smith is not a registered member, despite his use of their logo during his attempt.
