Players in Ghana’s movie industry had the opportunity to interact on the way forward for the movie industry at the Ghana movie awards cocktail party held over the weekend.

The ceremony was preceded by a red carpet session as most of the celebrities flaunted their designs on the carpet, adding more glitz and glamour to the occasion.

Although some big names in the movie industry including Yvonne Nelson, Joselyn Dumas and Jackie Appiah were conspicuously missing from the party, it did not mar the success of the the event.

In an interview with CEO of Zyflon Media, lead sponsor of the Ghana Movie Awards, Nana Appiah Mensah told Viasat1 entertainment that his team is hopeful the award will be the best of its kind, considering the many interventions put in place.

The strictly by invitation cocktail party is a prelude to the main Ghana Movie Awards event.

Chief Executive Officer of Zylofon media and lead sponsor of the award scheme, Nana Appiah Mensah says he is hopeful the 7th edition of the Ghana movie awards will be far better than the previous ones.

“You know we are going to give Ghanaians the best of all shows. it’s not going to follow the usual norm as in how it happened over the years. this time around the setting, the cameramen, the technical crew, the technology and everything is going to be on a different level. So we are calling on Ghanaians to come out in their numbers and support.

Veteran actor Fred Amugi who also graced the occasion told the crew that the award scheme is a great incentive for players in the movie industry.

“It’s just like working hard wherever you are and that the hierarchy of your business tells you it is christmas time, its easter time and we want to give you something small for you to be inspired to work harder”

Comic actor, Kalybos who co-starred in the much talked about movie ‘Amakye and Dede’ which also stars Ahuofe Patri and Majid Michel, is hopeful he will win all the categories he has been nominated for.

“This year, our movie- Amakye and Dede’ was shot and it has received the highest nomination in this year’s awards. I personally was nominated in two categories; i had one for the ‘favorite actor” and i also had one for ‘favorite supporting actor’ which was ‘Guy Guy’. so i must say i’m highly elated to be nominated again, like i was last year and if i win an award, it won’t be bad at all.”

The main event is scheduled to take place at the plush Kempiski Gold Coast Hotel in Accra on Sunday December 4, 2016.
