Fredrick Boakye, the Ghanaian who attempted to set a new Guinness World Record for the longest individual dancing marathon ended his feat after 131 hours.
Although he fell short of his 168-hour goal by 37 hours, his effort surpassed the current record of 127 hours held by Srushti Sudhir of India.
The dance-a-thon started on July 11 at the Kwahu-Obomeng Social Center and was scheduled to run until July 18, 2024.
However, despite his efforts, Fredrick Boakye ended the marathon early, citing exhaustion as the reason.
Fredrick had aimed to dance continuously to indigenous traditional music for an entire week to celebrate Ghana's rich culture and showcase his passion for dance.
Although his attempt was met with mixed reviews on social media, it garnered widespread admiration and support from well-wishers who gathered at the venue.
A video trending on social media showed Fredrick sitting on a chair, exhausted, with the Ghana flag draped around him.
He joins various other Ghanaians including Afua Asantewaa (Sing-a-thon), Ace Liam-Ankrah (Paint-a-thon) and Chef Failatu Abdul-Razak (Cook-a-thon) etc who have attempted a Guinness World Record since December 2023.
