Ghallygold Awards out soon

The first ever ‘Ghallygold Awards’ to reward talents in Ghana’s growing movie industry is set to roll with a launching ceremony on Tuesday January 12 at the International Press Center in Accra.

Last year, the Film Producers Association of Ghana (FIPAG) gave their support for the award. Hence they signed a memorandum of understanding with Item 3 House, an event management firm, to organize the awards. Dubbed ‘Ghallygold Awards’, the ceremony would hit the industry with a bang in Marsh this year.

It was supposed to have been held last year, but was put on hold due to delays in getting all stakeholders on board. For the past three years, the Ghanaian movie industry has not had any award ceremony to honour stakeholders after the Ghana Actors’ Guild came out with the last one.

Their inability to continue, reports indicated, was due to financial constraints. Item 3 House is however ready to bear the cost, hence taking up the mantle to organize the award. Information available to News-One indicated that some business entities are interest in being part of the awards.
