British High Commissioner to Ghana, Iain Walker, has disclosed his favourite Ghanaian meal is Jollof.

Walker who took over from Jon Benjamin in August this year told Francis Abban on the Morning Starr that for the few months that he has been in the country, Jollof has been his meal.

“I have enjoyed quite a number of Ghanaian dishes and I think Ghana Jollof is my favourite, it’s nice”.

Jollof rice has been a subject of great debate between Ghana and Nigeria with each country believing their own version is the most “delicious”, but recently Gambia beat Ghana and Nigeria in a Jollof rice competition organized by the Ghana Tourism Authority.

Mr Walker added that so far he has enjoyed his stay in Ghana.

“Ghana though has some challenges, has hope. Being in Ghana is not about just politics but maintaining good relations between us and Ghana, security among others matters and I must say so far I’m enjoying my stay here ”.

Iain Walker has worked for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office for the past 6 years, spending four of those years as Director of the Board.

As a law graduate from the University of Dundee, his experience is wide-ranging, including a consulting role for PwC, a two-year stint in the UK Prime Minister’s Delivery Unit as a policy lead in transformational government and a four year role at EY (formerly Ernst & Young – one of the ‘Big Four’ accounting firms).
