Over the years, the Ghanaian music industry has produced many acts who have given us (Ghanaians) and the world at large some great tunes to dance and get inspired by, in times of sadness and happiness.
The Ghanaian music industry like a football team, some players are given a more opportunity to play than others. Giving others less opportunity to exhibit their true talent and show the world what they have to offer.
Even though some artists have visibly and lyrical displayed actual talent and promising stage craft, their songs are hardly getting the desired air-play nor are they seen on our stages performing.
Most of these artists are given less chance to exhibit their talent on stage by big event organizers, radio/television stations for financial reasons or a trivial matter of favoritism.
This occurrence has dragged us to the point where we see the same group of artists on stage at every show we attend in this country.
We, by this, have unconsciously limited the number of stars and good performers in the country, and deprived ourselves of the opportunity see something new, make new stars and also grow our industry. It is the same old people (star) that get all the promotion and their performances are the same (except for a few) with little updates, event after event.
A few artists, notwithstanding the challenges, have proved times without number to have what it takes to take music/entertainment/events in this country to the next level; they may even sell us better in the outside this country- what we have been struggling to do all this.
In no particular order, the artists listed below are talented artists in different music genres with so much potential who have so much to give the nation, but most of the time have been sidelined by DJ’s, Event Organizers and Promoters for one reason or the other. These guys have something to offer, and we must pay attention to them.
We must take keen interest and a close look at the artist listed, because they will guarantee financial return on every penny invested in them. That is with the right guidance, management and promotion.
Ghana has good and abundant talents, but we must give them the opportunity to excel. As they say, a journey of a thousand miles begins with a step
