Ghanaian rapper, Okyeame Kwame, has voiced concerns about the criteria employed by Graphic Showbiz in their recent compilation of Ghana's top rappers.

In an interview with Zionfelix, known as the ‘Best Rapper Alive,’ Okyeame Kwame questioned the omission of notable rappers such as EL, Edem, and Flowking Stone from the list.

Graphic Showbiz recently ranked the top Ghanaian rappers as follows: Sarkodie, Obrafour, Okyeame Kwame, Okomfour Kwadee, Lord Kenya, Manifest, Tinny, Reggie Rockstone, Strongman, Eno Barony, Guru, Kojo Cue, Cabum, and Amerado.

While these names represent significant contributions to Ghanaian rap, Okyeame Kwame believes the list is incomplete and potentially flawed.

In his interview, Okyeame Kwame scrutinised the methodology behind the rankings.

“What criteria did Graphic Showbiz use for that list? RAP is Rhythmic African Poetry; so did they consider the rhythm, the ‘Africanness’ or the poetry? Did they prioritize popularity or influence? Or was it solely based on rapping ability?” he queried.

He emphasized the necessity of including EL, Flowking Stone, and Edem Goget’em, arguing that their exclusion suggests a lack of comprehensive consultation with the rap community.
