Accra, Aug. 9, GNA- Mr Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey, Minister of Tourism and Modernisation of the Capital City, on Saturday pledged government's support for the hosting of the Model of the Universe world finals to be staged in November in Accra.
The Minister, who gave the assurance when President of Miss Tourism World Organisation, Mr John Singh called on him, said the show will place Ghana on top of the world tourist map as the safest place in Africa for holding such events.
Mr Obetsebi-Lamptey said apart from the show serving as a platform for the country to market its tourism, it would equally demonstrate to the rest of the world that peace and security are enjoyed in the country. The Minister said the ministry will co-ordinate with the organizers, especially in the area of visas for the participants when they arrive.
He appealed to the two parties to show dedication and commitment to explore other areas for their mutual benefit.
Mr Singh is in the country to inspect facilities put in place for the finals and participate in the official launch of the event The First Royale Company Limited and the Miss World Tourism Organisation are sponsoring the event.
The finals will attract 75 ladies from all over the world, and who had gone through preliminary national events, aimed at promoting professional modelling and fashion industry.p> Mr Singh said Ghana was the best choice for the world finals, which is being held for the first time on the African continent. He expressed his gratitude to the Ministry for the support.
