Veteran actress, Grace Omaboe has recommended massive training for Ghanaian movie directors in the country.

According to her, the country’s movie industry rarely has very competent and proficient directors and film makers to help boost the industry through movie making. She maintains that profit making rather than quality has become the focus of most of these directors, the reason for the meagre number of good movies produced in the country.

Maame Dokono speaking in an interview with ghanaweb.com said the Ghanaian movie industry can only be recognised internationally if movie directors work hard at improving their movie production and directing skills to produce quality movies.

She urged the upcoming directors to be watchful of the mistakes their leaders are making to ensure those mistakes are averted.

‘These so called movie directors need a serious workshop before our movie industry will be recognised in the foreign countries and even Ghana here, when I talk to them about it, they get angry but that is the whole truth’, she stressed.

Maame Dokono was honoured by organisers of the Golden Movie Awards Africa (GMAA) on Saturday, 22 July. She was given a Life Time Achievement Award at the 2017 edition) at Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel, Accra.

The award was conferred on her in appreciation of her hard work and her commitment in the movie industry.

Maame Dokono, however, urged Government to put more effort in funding the movie industry to promote Ghana’s movie industry moving forward.
