Accra, July 12, GNA - Bawa Abudu, a renowned Ghanaian based in Germany is in the country for a three-week working visit. Bawa, who is in the country to film a video documentary with the German National Television network Deutche Welle was speaking during a courtesy call on Alhaji Sidiku Buari, President of the Musicians Union Of Ghana (MUSIGA) for working hard to uplift the image of Ghanaian musicians and other all over Africa.
Abudu commended Alhaji Sidiku Buari on his election to the high office of Vice president of the International Federation of Musicians (FIM), which he said had helped raise high the flag of Ghana and made Ghanaians proud.
Alhaji Buari commended Bawa for hitting the top charts in Germany, saying with the feat he had brought honours to the Ghanaian musician He also commended Bawa for thinking about his colleagues back home and said Ghanaians and indeed African musicians were doing well abroad and urged them to target the African market for the sale of their works. Alhaji Buari said the African market was large enough and any African who targeted the continent for the distribution of their products were "likely to make it".
Alhaji Buari described the present era as a "musician's world" and urged them to be serious with the profession.
Bawa Abudu also made similar calls on Professor George Hagan, Chairman of the National Commission on Culture and Mr Jake Obetsebi Lamptey, Minister of Tourism and Modernisation of the Capital City. Mr Obetsebi Lamptey urged Bawa to continue to project the image of the country saying, "Ghana has a lot to be proud of in the music industry.
For his part, Professor Hagan advised Bawa to continue to be a good ambassador of Ghana and highlight the country's values on his musical tours
