Following the December 7 elections in Ghana, a post by actor and NPP supporter Prince David Osei on social media has sparked a wave of intense reactions.

Prince David Osei, who had taken to his X handle to express his pride and optimism despite the NPP's defeat, called for "friendly banter and trolling" in his message.

However, his comments were met with massive backlash from the public.

Many social media users criticised Osei for his ‘insensitivity’ and accused him of supporting the NPP for personal gain.

"There’s nothing friendly about anything we’ve said to you people from day one. It’s out of pure hate and disgust." “You supported NPP because you’re a beneficiary of the rot and the loot. Putting a party ahead of a nation makes you a traitor. The defeat is gargantuan, maybe you can use it to create a good movie to save your career. Gtfoh!" some users posted.

Other users condemned Osei's comments, describing him as ‘evil’ due to his actions and political choices.

"There’s no friendly banter. you’re evil. keep your evil self in the nether realm and let us fight for the success of this country. this satanic government will not be back anytime soon,” “Which friendly banter !! Someone who can go all length against your own friend in the movie industry? You must be one wicked and corrupt person,” others posted.

The backlash against the actor comes as the December 7, 2024, general elections ended with the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) sweeping up most of the votes which were cast on the day.

Although collation by the Electoral Commission is still ongoing, Vice President and New Patriotic Flagbearer Dr Bawumia has accepted defeat and congratulated John Mahama.
