Girl friend to pay 50 million cedis to rival

Nkawie (Ash), Feb 6, GNA - The Nkawie circuit court, presided over by Mr. Beresford Sarfo Acquah has fined a 21-year-old woman, Adwoa Naomi, one million cedis and 50 million cedis as compensation to be paid her rival for causing harm to her.

Naomi, who pleaded guilty to the charge, would serve a three-year prison term if she fails to pay the fine and compensation. Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Augustine Agyare told the court that Naomi is a girl friend of one Mr Attah Gyamfi living at Esaase in the Amansie West district while her rival, Adwoa Bema also stayed in Kumasi.

The prosecution said on November 7, 2004, the complainant went to Esaase to attend a funeral.

Incidentally, Bema met Naomi who then picked a quarrel with her but they were separated.

Chief Inspector Agyare said not satisfied, Naomi picked a broken bottle and inflicted wounds on the face of Bema.

Prosecution said after the act, Naomi hid herself in Kumasi but was later arrested and charged with the offence.

The prosecution submitted that the plastic surgery on the face of Bema would cost 70 million cedis.
