Manager of the Zylofon Arts Club, Willie Roi has asked Richard Boateng, President of the Film Directors Guild of Ghana and all stakeholders of the film industry to be more creative in picking up a name for the sector.
The renowned music producer and sound engineer has asked the film industry to let go of the Gollywood name as it is a borrowed name from the thriving Indian movie industry.
Contrary to mass opinion, Roi pointed out that, he does not have a problem with Richard for deciding on a name for the entire industry.
“I don’t buy the argument that one man can’t decide for the entire industry. But you should drop the name, it is not original. You can’t brand Ghana against copyright”, he advised.
He further advised that, industry players come together to support Richard’s dream to help make the industry better.
“When people find out you are riding on them to spearhead an agenda, they will leave you behind”, he finally told Richard.
