Former Member of Parliament for Ablekuma South Honourable Fritz Baffour has shown support to Filmmakers in Kumawood.

He indicated that though his genre of movie isn’t Kumawood, he enjoys watching them.

Known for his prowess in acting, Hon. Baffour told Kojo Preko Dankwa on Kasapa Entertainment on Kasapa 102.5FM, the Kumawood movie sector is doing what they can with the resources available to them.

He, however stated that the Kumawood movies would have been improved if stakeholders had helped them with regards to writing better scripts.

“If I’m doing nothing, I do watch the Kumawood movies. I follow the trend and it’s interesting. Anybody who is in the art or acting is got to be respected. Actually the genre of movie I enjoy might not be Kumawood but I can sit down and see the entertainment value of a lot of the Kumawood films. We could have taken it farther upwards if other people have come in in terms of writing better scripts and giving better research but everyone fears to help as if Kumawood is something that shouldn’t be touched and that the people are doing it are base but isn’t TRUE.”

Over the years, Kumawood has been criticized for its repetitive stories and poor production.

Fritz Baffour is a journalist, politician and communications consultant. He was the Minister for Information of Ghana under the late John Evans Atta Mills government.
