Isaac Abeidu-Aidoo Even though Goodies Music Production announced itself on the Ghanaian music scene barely four years ago, it undoubtedly stands out as the most credible and popular production house in the country.
With a tall line-up of the nation?s top artistes on its label, including Ghana?s best musical group, Vision In Progress (VIP), the most wanted musician in our motherland, Tic Tac as well as the country?s most controversial artiste, Sidney of ?Scenti No? fame, Goodies Music easily stands out in a class of its own.
Just a few months after announcing itself on the music scene, this renowned record label, a brainchild of young and enterprising Isaac Abeidu-Aidoo, popularly known as Goodies, made its intention and mission clear when it propelled Lord Kenya to scoop some awards including the Song of the Year during that year?s Ghana Music Awards.
Goodies Music?s success story in terms of popularising its artistes and songs, continued with the release of Tic Tac?s ?Masem? and Sidney?s ?Abuskeleke? songs which cause major stirs not only in terms of sales but also topped the nation?s music chart shows for a long time. One thing which was obvious at the time was the record label?s enviable marketing and promotional tactics which made their songs popular than any other.
VIP swept 6 awards @ GMA 2004 Then came the mother of all Goodies Music Production hit songs, with the introduction of VIP?s ?Ahomka Wo Mu? sometime last year. In a write-up at this very column after the release of that album, P&P predicted that the song was certainly an award-winning one.
This prediction came to reality during this year?s Ghana Music Awards when the ?deadly? trio of Promzy, Lazzy and Prodigal scooped the awards including Artiste of the Year, Song of the Year and Hiplife Album of the Year.
Sidney later released the controversial and chart-topper album ?Scenti No? which instantly became a hit. Personally, Goodies is out with Tic Tac ?Wope? album which is receiving massive airplay and good sales.
Tic Tac out with new album In an interview, Isaac Abeidu-Aidoo stated that his outfit also has the Goodies Foundation (an NGO) which is dedicated to the fight against HIV/AIDS, Malaria and other diseases. The NGO thus uses the popularity and fame of its artistes to educate people on the danger of the disease.
