Top Ghanaian gospel artiste with the hit song "Adom", Mrs Perpetual Tsahey popularly known as Perppy has hinted that a gospel musician can win the coveted artiste of the year award at the next VGMA.
Perppy, who some time back proclaimed candidly that she would win souls for Christ in night clubs, was talking to DJ Murphy of Sunyani-based Metro FM on whether a gospel musician can overthrow Stonebwoy.
"My brother, Ghanaian gospel musicians are really doing well. I just don't understand why none of us has ever won the top award. It's either we are not doing something right, or maybe it's a deliberate attempt not to hype we the gospel musicians," she told Murphy.
So do you really think a gospel musician can overthrow Stonebwoy? Murphy again asked.
"Yes! Everything is possible, but bear in mind we [are] not doing songs because of awards but to win souls for Christ. We are still working hard when the organisers see the need to award us fine. But again, Yes, a gospel musician can win the coveted Artiste of the Year award at the next VGMA if the organisers will be very fair," she answered.
So you think the organisers are not fair?
"Hahaha...I'm not saying they're not fair. They're humans, and every normal human being is bound to make mistakes so maybe they've been making mistakes ...hahaha," Perppy noted with humor.
Perppy is currently out with a nine track album titled Ayeyi, which she said, is the song that inspires her most.
Some of the tracks on the album are Ayeyi, Adom, Blessed Assurance & Tie.
