Georgia Adjei, Paapa Yankson and Kwabena Kwabena, three of Ghana's most popular musicians, are to light up the garden party of the eleventh GJA Awards Night scheduled for the Ghana International Press Centre next Friday.
The three musicians have been carefully selected to present performances that cut across three major music types - gospel, hiplife and highlife.
Paapa Yankson is, of course, the most iconic of the three with many years of highlife music behind him. His recent performance during the Highlife Night of the Ghana Music Awards Festival held at the Golden Tulip in Accra a few weeks ago has strongly brought him back into the limelight proving that good music stays forever.
Then there is GMA gospel nominee, Georgia Adjei who has successfully turned a well-known local chorus, 'Ebenezer' into a hit song. Her powerful voice has been a regular feature at concerts these days. Indeed when she opened the GMA Gospelfest at the Accra International Conference Centre, Georgia virtually set the house ablaze.
GMA winner, Kwabena Kwabena may be described as one of those hit makers who seem to have appeared from nowhere with his immensely popular song, 'Asor'.
He has been described variously as an exceptional hiplife artiste, contemporary highlife crusader and a passionate composer. Whichever category he finds himself in, Kwabena Kwabena leaves no doubt that he takes his music seriously.
Providing the backdrop for all the music of the evening will be the Megastar band, the group of young musicians whose dexterity runs through every music genre.
The awards event itself, according to the organizers, Ghana Journalist Association, is being given a new flavour this year with the event been hosted at the Press Centre for the first time and also out of doors. The garden party atmosphere promises to be an attraction that maybe an attraction that maybe replicated by other organizations in their near future.
Eighteen awards, including the ultimate 'Journalist of the Year' will be given out. The categories stretch across news reporting, investigative reporting, features, columnists, best talkshow, sports, entertainment, business, health, environment and rural reporting.
Kesal Catering Services who run the very efficient the Skuup restaurant located at the Press center have accepted to excite the palate of guests with a select menu of entrees varied main course and dessert. "We are pleased to put our adventure in entertaining at the disposal of journalists and their guests", the manager told Graphic Entertainer.
