Gospel artistes especially the ladies should control their fans - OJ

Some gospel artistes have been resentful of not getting more nominations or not being nominated at all for the annual Ghana Music Awards organized by Charter House. In times where they had been nominated, some had not bagged home any award.

Gospel artiste, OJ has remarked that mostly those who fight over not winning an award are ladies and that is because they act with their hearts and are perhaps influenced by the messages they get from their fans.

The 2015 MOGO Best Original Gospel Act said this in an interview with Abrantepa on Radio Univers' mid-morning show, Brunch2Lunch.

Explaining his observation, OJ said, "the ladies are mostly heard complaining because they act with their hearts. Ladies get extremely emotional. They have the mentality that they are better than their fellow women so they easily rub shoulders and go to the extreme... their way of sitting is even a communication tool to their fellows".

According to OJ, males are not mostly heard complaining because they do not harbour anything against each other.

He cautioned gospel acts not to be swayed by certain messages from their fans as that could be a recipe for begrudging their fellow gospel musicians.

"Sometimes when you follow your fans, they can cause you to do something you never thought of. You have to control your fans. Someone can send you a message that you are better than this or that person so you deserved to win the award. If you follow that with your heart but not your mind, you will end up tarnishing your image and fall prey to public ridicule", he noted.
