Grandson Plots Grandpa?s Robbery

An armed robbery accomplice, who allegedly masterminded the robbery of his grandfather and later impersonated a soldier has succeeded in helping one of his two colleagues to flee.

The suspect, Aaron Esianor, who was disguised, emerged from his hideout after residents of Mempeasem near East Legon in Accra had apprehended the two robbers and were sending them to the police station.Esianor succeeded and took Oko Bibio, alias Daniel Okran, away and out of trouble and now the Greater Accra Regional Criminal Investigations Department (CID) is looking for the two robbers.

Giving the details of the robbery, the Regional Crime Officer, Mr Bright Oduro, said on August 31, this year, around 11 am, Aaron Esianor, a grandson of the complainant (name withheld), accompanied by Oko Bibio and Kwaku Larbi, went to the house to rob it.The crime officer said when the trio arrived at the house, Esianor rang the bell and the wife of the complainant came out to answer only to be taken hostage by Oko Bibio and Kwaku Larbi.

According to Mr Oduro, Esianor who was afraid of being recognised by his family, hid himself while the other two accomplices marched the woman back into the house, to her husband?s room where they were ordered to surrender everything they had on them, including foreign currency, but the couple did not meet the request of the robbers.

Consequently, the robbers ransacked the victim?s wardrobe and packed an unspecified number of men?s and women?s clothes, assorted dresses and a wallet which contained vital documents and an amount of ?600,000 into the woman?s bag. Before leaving, the robbers locked the complainant and his wife in the bathroom.

Luck, however, eluded them when on their way out they met the complainant?s son who challenged them and raised an alarm. With the help of the crowd, Kwaku Larbi and Oko Bibio were apprehended but Aaron Esianor emerged from his hiding place and told the crowd that he was a soldier and would like to send Oko Bibio to the police station.

Aaron then put Oko Bibio in a taxi under the pretext of arresting him and the two absconded. The CID has therefore advised the public not to hand over criminals to just anybody. When arrested, Kwaku Larbi, who is now in police custody, mentioned the names of his accomplices with the exception of one.

According to the crime officer, information they have gathered indicates that Aaron Esianor alias Kwesi Dada or Lomotey and Oko Bibio have been moving together. Oko Bibio was reportedly said to be staying around Flamingo near Zongo Junction in Accra.

The police have made a passionate appeal to the public with any information about their whereabouts to communicate it to the nearest police station.
