Gyedu Blay Ambolley 'fights' MUSIGA

Gyedu Blay Ambolley in a latest interview has revealed the current MUSIGA administration hasn’t done anything good as far as he is concerned.

Still promoting his Different Shades of Ambolley album, he said;

“Looking at it from behind, I’m not seeing the positive aspects of it. But luckily for them, the government gave them about two million. With that kind of money, a lot could have been done for the industry. I’ve seen many musicians that have contributed a lot to Ghana but when they passed away and I went to their funerals, it was pathetic.

“That means something is wrong. Because as it stands now, when you have two children and you ask them to choose between football and music, they all will choose football because they see the footballers earn good money. I think the only reason why they will choose music is because of what Sarkodie and the rest are doing and winning BET and stuff.

“Because much is not done to expose what the music can give us as a people. But the problem now is that when I talk, people see it as though because I lost the election, that’s why I’m saying it but in reality, nothing is happening.

“Citizen Kofi and many others gave contributions and you still go to the union office and it’s still the same old thing. They could have invested the money into a studio and instruments musicians can go get and record. In Los Angeles, when I was with the musicians union, they had a studio and we the members got huge discounts. Outside studios were charging 100 - 280 dollars per session, that studio was about 20 dollars for us. It helped people to do more and good music.

“Sometimes I just keep mute because people say I talk because I lost.

“But I have plans of contesting again and I have been having many calls regarding the leadership and music is and not a child’s play.

“But there’s something in there that we need to correct because there’s mafiarism. Obuor can’t stand toe to toe with me musically. When Agya Koo Nimo was the president I was the vice so I know what was going on. So people are afraid I will expose the corruption going on in there, they don’t want me to be near to it.

“So many things are wrong. Okyeame Kwame is not a member of COSGA so he cannot be part of the receivers and managers, they put somebody there who has a criminal record to be the chairman. MUSIGA is trying to interfere in GHAMRO but those two bodies are two different things.
