Eighteen-year-old Hamamat Montia, a former student of Achimota School has been crowned Miss Malaika 2006. After months of scouting and grooming the final ten delegates it out at the Accra International Conference Center to finally decide on who drove home the grand prize of a KIA Rio. The delegates were judged on intelligence, communication skills, talent and knowledge of current affairs.
The audience in the packed auditorium couldn’t agree more with the decision of the judges as they cheered Hamamat every time she appeared on stage. She performed so well, especially with the talent display, the audience always looked forward to seeing her reappear on stage. Aside being crowned Miss Malaika 2006, she also won Miss Talent with her impersonation of Michael Jackson, which she did almost perfectly to rapturous applause from the audience.
Alisa came in second (first princess) with Miskelly placing third (second princess). For their prizes, Hamamat drove home the Kia Rio (donated by Rana Motors), ¢20 million and the Miss Malaika crown. Alisa and Miskelly received ¢7 million and ¢5 million respectively.
