Renowned Ghanaian filmmaker Leila Djansi has called for Chef Smith to be cancelled following his admission of fabricating a Guinness World Record.

In a Facebook post, Djansi expressed her outrage at the public's lenient response to Chef Smith's apology, arguing that it undermines accountability.

Labeling him a ‘psychopath’, she argued that Chef Smith’s actions have trivialized the achievements of genuine record holders.

“I am appalled at how the majority of folks on Ghana social media are comforting and pampering this Chef Smith guy because he apologized! What’s wrong with y’all? Worried about your own skeletons, huh? This is why there’s zero accountability. Cancel this man… How do you fake a Guinness World Record? Trivializing the likes of Wally Funk, Zion Clark, Malala Yousafzai.

“He is a psychopath. How do you make a fool of an entire nation? And I am hearing he is also some sort of sexual deviant. No surprises there. He apologized, so what?

Djansi likened the situation to biblical consequences, suggesting that a simple apology should not save an offender from the repercussions of their actions.

“Someone tarnishes your entire image and gets away with it because they apologized. What on earth! David sinned, confessed, and apologized, yet the child DIED. God took the child.

“People need to reap what they sow. Cancel this guy. Make his skin too hot… FYI: Grace is not without consequence,” she added.

She urged the Ghanaian community to take a stand against such deceitful behavior to prevent future incidents and maintain integrity.

What happened

After his much-publicized Guinness World Record attempt for the Longest Cooking Marathon by an individual in March 2024, Chef Smith held a press conference at La Palm Beach Hotel to announce his recognition by the body.

However, it was later revealed that the Guinness World Records had no record of such an application or attempt from him.

This revelation led to public backlash and accusations of deceit, prompting Chef Smith and his assistant to issue public apologies.

In an emotional interview on GHOne TV, he expressed deep regret, saying he simply wanted an opportunity to display his talent and make a livelihood for himself.
