Here They Come, Queen?s Block

Queens Block Vivacious, victorious, vibrant, vocal ?. Ok! I am running out of V words to describe Queen?s Block. Ghana has a brand of musicians like no other. These lyricists from Nima have got the style and flow. People consider their style as a blend of hiphop, highlife and ragga.

Queen?s Block is a group made up of two members namely Ahmed Labaran also known as Lyrically Born Killer (LBK) and Christian Anim also known as Scratch Mama. They have known each other since forever.

2004 will see the release of their record breaking album ?Freedom? full of Hausa, Twi, Kotokoli and Ewe lyrics. They have landed! On the ?Freedom? album, the track which is set to receive massive airplay titled ?Akyekyedee? opens the album and it tells the story of the difficulties they had to go through before coming out big.

?Yebebo Bra?s soul touching beat coupled with the sweet lyrics give this track what music lovers expect from a song; the feeling of being in love.

Following closely is ?Ntontom? (Mosquito) which is a real life story. Try and get a feel of this song. Other sensational tracks include ?Falala? (Brightness), ?Obaa Wei? featuring Phaze 1 and MC Kwame, ?Panapana, ?Malile? (Where do I come from?), ?Freedom? and the likes.

Producers! Hear this: They have not got a producer yet. Who will take the first step to discover the new talented artistes? In an interview with Ghana Music.Com, they said ?We will show the public that we have the power to upstage many international artistes who have been in the field a lot longer?.

If what we are hearing is anything to judge by, all eyes will be on Queen?s Block in 2004. Their future looks bright with their album in the pipeline. I bet you, they will reign in the industry as people of Nima shower them with much deserved praises.

Some are even optimistic that they will put Ghana on the world music map. It remains to be seen if they can make a good mark this year. They can be reached on 233 24 4509433 or 233 27 7827121.
