Ghanaian versatile hiplife musical duo Akatakyie, made up of two brothers Prince Kwabena Budu Asumaning(Kooby culture)and Ebenezer Kwasi Okyere Asumaning(King Pharoah)has opined that the current crop of musicians are going wayward.
King Pharoah in an interview with Kofi Asante on A1 Radio hinted the trend have really changed making it difficult for the highlife artiste who do quality songs with mature lyrical content to go into production because sales of records in the industry has declined, making it difficult to invest now into production.
He emphasized that the trend has made it in such a way that future projects needs to be uploaded online for free downloads making showbiz now unprofitable as compare to their days when music lovers purchased records at various music shops and billing of artiste for performances were common because event organizers were in abundance.
Touching on the future of Ghana music, he reiterated ‘’if only the current crop of musicians will desist from disposable songs which becomes instant hint within three months and focus on how to write good songs like the highlife musicians we can go far he said’’.
