Housewife and children before Court for murder

Aflao, May 25, GNA - Xanu Kpadovu, a 60-year-old housewife and her four children on Monday appeared before a Circuit Court at Aflao over the murder of their in-law, Kwabla Kede, 32, a farmer at Wuiga, near Avenorfeme, in the Akatsi District.

The pleas of Kpadovu , Doe Dogbe, 20, Esther Dogbe, 30, wife of Kede, Kofi Dogbe 36, Comfort Dogbe 17 who were jointly charged with abetment of murder were not taken. Kwaku Dogbe 28, also a son of Kpadovu was at large.

Comfort Dogbe and Kofi Dogbe were granted 15 million cedis bail each and the rest were remanded in police custody. All the suspects would reappear on May 31.

Prosecuting, Inspector Peter Ledi, told the court presided over by Mr Godwin Kwasi-Kumah, that on May 19, this year, Esther Dogbe demanded 20,000 cedis, being proceeds from the sale of firewood from Kede, her husband.

He said Esther Dogbe's persistent demands for the money resulted in a quarrel during which Kede assaulted her.

Insp Ledi said Esther Dogbe reported the matter and showed the bruises on her body to her mother and family members at Wuiga. The prosecutor said Esther Dogbe's mother and her children, went to Kede's house and confronted him resulting in a scuffle.

Insp Kwasi-Kumah said Doe, who went along with a chisel stabbed Kede in the throat with the implement killing him instantly. Mr Ledi said some opinion leaders of the town reported the matter to the police who arrested the accused persons but Kwaku Dogbe managed to abscond.

He said Kede's body had been deposited at the Police Hospital morgue in Accra, while investigation continued.
