Founder and leader of Anointed Palace Chapel (APC), Rev. Obofour has mocked the Member of Parliament for Adansi Asokwa constituency, KT Hammond, after he lost his seat in the just-ended 2024 general election. Reverend Obofuor thanks Ghanaians for voting wisely. pic.twitter.com/vgnWKinwLv
In a viral social media video, Rev. Obofour who was addressing his congregation referred to an earlier statement made by the MP where he noted that youths in the country are empty-headed.
"Honorable you have lost the election. Ghanaians have been able to vote out pride and arrogant politicians in the country. You can see a politician insulting the youth in the country. He can look into the faces of young men and tell them they are empty-headed.
"Why is it that those who brought free SHS have still been voted out of power? I want to tell them that pride and arrogance are part of the reason why they didn't win the election," he said.
Rev. Obofour further noted that NPP has not been able to solve the persistent power outages "Dumsor" in the country.
"Why all of a sudden everybody is happy to talk after the NPP lost the election... I know that some people are quiet because the election didn't go in their favor. But I don't care about you, you can go home... Also, do you know that the dumsor is still happening," he added.
Background
In October 2022, KT Hammond in an interview noted that those who mocked the President cannot lead the country if given the opportunity.
According to him, the catcalls from Ghanaians, especially the youth, were a sign of disrespect that should not have happened.
“We will continue to admonish you the young men and women to be patient. When there’s an issue to be addressed, society always consults the elderly. Not you the young ones, whose heads are like coconuts.
“At least you should have waited for him to even mount a political platform before hooting, and not such an event. Let’s not disrespect the elderly because of politics,” he said.
Fast-forward to 2024, the MP lost his seat in the 2024 election to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate Godwin Animli Dorgbadzi- Dorani who secured 14,229 of the valid votes cast while KT Hammond garnered 13,275 votes.
