Nigerian singer Charles Chibuezechukwu, better known as Crayon, has openly discussed his struggles with drug abuse and its severe consequences.

In a recent interview with YouTuber Korty EO, the "Ngozi" hitmaker recounted his harrowing experience of being admitted to a mental health facility, where he nearly lost his life due to addiction.

Crayon shared a particularly alarming incident outside his record label's office, revealing how his colleague Rema came to his aid.

He recalled, “One day, my manager saw me and was shocked by my condition. I told him I only smoked weed, but then I started acting erratically, walking barefoot down to the Mavin studio. I feel fortunate that no one recorded that episode, as it could have severely impacted my confidence and career.”

Narating further, Crayon said when he reached the Mavin studio gate, he sat there and felt overwhelmed.

“I took off my shirt and smashed my iPhone. Then calls started pouring in. Rema, BabyFresy, everyone was worried, and I just kept saying I was tired

“Rema arrived prepared to help, even brought me a stick in case of trouble. I was lying on Rema’s lap, and he told me, ‘Bro, trust me, once you get through this, you’ll come out stronger. This is your final battle.’ I couldn’t recognise anyone, but those words stuck with me,” he stated.

He also mentioned how severe the situation became, comparing it to Mohbad's struggles.

“I almost jumped out of a moving car; it was that intense. Eventually, they took me to a psychiatric hospital in Lekki. It was a deep experience, but after everything, I returned to Don Jazzy’s house.”
