Founder and President of Angel Broadcasting Network, Dr. Kweku Oteng, has expressed concerns about Okatakyie Afrifa’s habit of not heeding his advice.

On Afrifa's birthday, October 10, 2024, Dr. Oteng praised him for his work but noted that whenever he advises him to tone down his approach to certain issues, he tends to ignore him.

Addressing the media personality cum anti-galamsey activist, Dr. Kweku Oteng said, "You (Okatakyie) can be a witness that sometimes when I advise you on certain issues you don't listen to me.

“I understand the nature of your work but sometimes you have to tone down a bit. I know how you are committed to fighting this galamsey issue and it is a good thing. But sometimes when it gets to a point where these politicians are attacking me, relax a bit.”

Dr. Oteng also disclosed that he often faces backlash from political parties due to some of Afrifa's comments, particularly on illegal mining.

"Journalists are sometimes Stubborn. What worries me a lot is sometimes these political parties think we influence the shows and work you do. So, I normally get attacks from them but we all know the work you are doing is to help the nation and not for personal interest" he added.

Okatakyie Afrifa Mensah has been a vocal opponent of the illegal mining issue, which has dominated national discourse in recent weeks.

On his show on Angel FM, he has actively criticised politicians, clergymen, and traditional leaders involved in illegal mining.
