"I Am Not Dead"- Dancehall Sensation, Kaakie Cries Out

Kaakie has come out to refute rumours circulating in the early hours today that ‘she is dead’ barely 12 hours after she rocked stage on her campus, University of Ghana, Legon, at their ‘Hall Week Celebration’.

The rising female Ghanaian Dancehall singjay woke up this morning (Sunday, February 26, 2012) only to be hit by some unwelcome news that she has passed away. Swept swiftly by shock, the singer was alarmed at the rumour (which was silently spreading to the masses).

In a conversation with GHAMAICANS magazine, Kaakie says ‘there was nothing wrong with her and she was doing fine.’ Shocked at the entire hullaballoo, the youthful ‘chubby’ singer wondered why someone would concoct such a story about her.

“I was on stage last night to perform and returned safely back to bed. I wasn’t even fully awake when calls starting coming in to check whether I was alive. It is very unfortunate for someone to create such falsehood about. I have no idea who this person is but no matter what somebody tries to do to disturb my showbiz career will not work.

God is the only person who controls my life; these things would only make me stronger. May God forgive that person; they know not what they are doing. I have my music and my education as my biggest priorities now. I am too busy to worry over these things…” Kaakie corroborated.

Further investigation from JMJ Baby (Kaakie’s Co-Manager), also rebutted the rumours that there was nothing wrong with Kaakie. “I am even shocked this is happening. Kaakie is fine; she is alive…” he added.

However, Kaakie’s fan base over the past few months has doubled more that quickly. Kaakie, who doubles as a student at the University of Ghana, Legon, studying Nursing is the most vibrant female voice in Dancehall/Reggae & Afropop in Ghana now.

Before the ‘false rumours’ began circulating about her, she was occupied all weekend performing on stages at the Y107.9fm Olam Beach Jam & the Legon Week Celebration.

Video shoot for her hit song “Too Much” is due to start soon; will be shot and directed by Phamous People. Kaakie will be releasing another new single too soon (title with-held for now). The Dansoman-based singer is also part of the popular Dancehall clique called "Hygrade Family" (which includes Samini, Stonebwoy, Lingua Kat, Bigg Nabb and some others).

Kaakie is concurrently undertaking her project work and blending it with studio works. She is due to drop a new single any time soon again. Meanwhile, her recent release “Toffee Pon Tongue” (Obolo bolo) song is getting more popular among the music lovers in Ghana and beyond; Kaakie’s music currently plays across the globe in countries like Spain, Italy, South Africa, UK, USA, Nigeria, Australia, Norway, Sweden and other countries. She has released 3 singles so far (Ewoo, Too Much, and Toffee Pon Tongue).

Kaakie is being managed by Xtra Large Music record label, based in Dansoman-Accra. The record label – Xtra Large Music - which manages Kaakie is jointly run by Royce Greene and JMJ Baby (Joshua Raphaelson); Sadiq Abdulai and Elorm Beenie are both the record label publicists.
