I Have No beef With Lydia Forson – Shirley Frimpong-Manso

Movie producer and director, Shirley Frimpong-Manso has refuted rumours that she has a beef with actress Lydia Forson and that it explains why she no longer engages her in her productions.

The rumours which have been gaining grounds for some time now have it that there has been some bad blood between the two with Shirley deciding not to 'use' Lydia in any of her current or future productions.

Lydia Forson had previously starred in Shirley Frimpong-Manso's productions such as Scorned, Perfect Picture and A Sting in a Tale but has not appeared in any of her current productions, prompting the rumours of a rift.

But the director, speaking in an interview with myjoyonline.com after a special screening of the second of the ten-chapter Adams Apples series at the Silverbird Cinema, Thursday, said the rumours can only be false. She indicated that she had not engaged Lydia in her current productions due to the fact that she has not yet found an appropriate role for the actress yet.

“I haven’t used Lydia Forson because I haven’t found an appropriate role for her yet. If I have differences with Lydia, I definitely will not be putting it out there in the media,” she stated, adding, “I don’t have anything, I don’t have any difference with Lydia.”

Supporting her stance, the award-winning director quibbled, “Chris Attoh is not in this production, am I fighting with Chris?”

Shirley however emphasised that she as a director and a producer loves to explore and always wants to give other people the opportunity, explaining that none of the casts who feature in her productions gets stuck with Sparrow Productions, her company.
