Ghanaian actor Eddie Nartey has denied reports that he was denied an American visa by the American Embassy in Ghana.
Media reports last week said a lot of Ghanaian filmmakers who were nominated for the Nollywood & African Film Critics’ Awards (NAFCA), which took place over the weekend, were denied American visas by the embassy.
Hence a lot of Ghanaian filmmakers could not be part of the award ceremony which gathered a number of Nigerian and Ghanaian filmmakers at the Sheraton Imperial Hotel and Convention Centre in Durham, North Carolina.
Eddie Nartey was one of the Ghanaian actors who were alleged to have been refused visas, but he told BEATWAVES that the rumour was not true.
According to him, he did not go to the American Embassy for a visa, let alone be denied one. He said he was busy on set, hence he did not bother to go to the embassy.
“I did not go to the embassy. I was surprised when I heard people were mentioning my name and others putting my pictures on the internet, writing all kinds of things as well as others insulting us that we were denied visas. I was not denied a visa. It was just unfair,” Eddie emphasized.
