The saying that ‘think like a man, act like a lady’ definitely doesn’t apply to OV. Burniton Music’s female signee, OV has proven that she owns her brand.
The fast-rising act has been criticized for her ‘manly’ style of dressing but it seems she is not perturbed.
Okailey Verse in an interview on the Delay Show confirmed that she is a ‘tomboy’ adding that her style of dressing makes her comfortable and is not under any pressure to dress like a woman.
“I am a tomboy and I have accepted it, my looks and everything defines it. Looking at me, it clearly shows that I am a tomboy. I am not a man, the fact that I act like it doesn’t make me one”
However, OV wants her fans to know that she is not a lesbian. The 20-year old revealed that she has been in a couple of relationships.
OV also appealed to Ghanaians to divert their attention to her talent and not dwell on her sexuality.
“Of course, I am a tomboy, but Ghanaians define tomboy in a different way. People think you are gay or lesbian. I am straight and a girl”, OV emphasized.
The dancehall artist rose to fame after winning Season 7 edition of MTN Hit Maker in 2018 and grabbed a GHC100,000 recording deal under Burniton Music which is headed by the reigning Reggae Dancehall artist of the year, Stonebwoy.
Her normal T-shirt and ripped jeans makes her feel comfortable and she wouldn’t trade it just to fit into the definition of what a woman should look like.
“It is difficult for me to wear heels, it doesn’t suit my brand…I can wear heels and comfortably walk in them however it is just not my thing”, she confessed.
OV is definitely not your regular kind of girl and to confirm that she ‘does men’ disclosed that she is in a relationship with a young man who recently graduated from the University.
