Ghanaian artiste manager, Nana Poku Ashis, has expressed his disappointment regarding the ongoing family dispute involving Gospel musician Yaw Sarpong of the group 'Yaw Sarpong and Asomafo', his wife Adwoa Penamang, and group member Maame Tiwaa.

It can be recalled that in a live studio broadcast on Kumasi-based Oyerepa FM, Adwoa Penamang accused Tiwaa of having an affair with her husband and taking over his care since his illness.

Maame Tiwaa, however, denied the allegations, stating that she stepped in to care for Yaw Sarpong only after Adwoa refused to do so.

The situation intensified with both parties exchanging harsh words and accusations.

In an interview on Hitz FM on June 24, 2024, Nana Poku Ashis, who is the manager of Yaw Sarpong, said his frustration is not directed at Yaw Sarpong's wife but rather at their children, whom he believes should have exercised better judgment given their education and awareness of social media's impact.

"My disappointment is not with the wife but with the kids; they (the children) should have known better.

"Maybe the woman doesn't know the power of social media and whatnot. But can you say so for the two kids who are flying left and right?

"This man has educated the two of you; can't you use your common sense and know that this is going to harm your father? They knew how far this issue would go, and they sat down and watched it happen," he said.

Shedding light on the matter, Yaw Sarpong's children had reached out to him to mediate their family issue even before the expose, but he declined, stating that such matters should be resolved by family elders.

However, the children responded that the family heads were not responsive to their concerns.

"When this whole matter started, Yaw Sarpong's children called me and wanted us to solve their issue, and I told them this was an issue for family heads. I, as an artiste manager, have no say in this. When it comes to family, it's not my place. They said to me that the family heads were unwilling to heed their call," he added.

Ashis also questioned the children's decision to take the case to the public space, asking, "Why then did they have to go and drag the wife to Auntie Naa? Is Auntie Naa a court or a family house? What exactly was the end game?"

Addressing allegations made by Adwoa Penamang that Maame Tiwaa was benefiting financially by looking after Yaw Sarpong, Ashis revealed that Yaw Sarpong's children had actually taken possession of their father's phone and were managing his mobile money transactions through which donations came.

"I know all the financial problems they're talking about. All of this started because they wanted his phone and the money on it. They took his phone; Yaw Sarpong's mobile money was in the possession of his children. They are the ones in charge of all the transactions," he claimed.

Yaw Sarpong, who has been battling a stroke for over a year, is currently under the care of Prophet J.Y. Adu in Kumasi.

His manager, Nana Poku Ashis, called for prayers and support for the ailing musician.
