Popular Ghanaian music producer and Chief Executive Officer of Xtra Large Music, JMJ, has revealed that he owes and still pays debts accrued from productions he did for his former artiste, Kaakie.

According to JMJ, he was not able to maximize financial gains from investing in Kaakie. He mentioned that the only revenue she generated was from live shows she performed.

“As we speak, I am still servicing debts,” JMJ told Kwame Dadzie on Joy FM's Showbiz A-Z.

Explaining why he could not make sufficient financial gains from his investment in Kaakie, JMJ admitted that when those songs were released, they lacked knowledge of how to market songs on digital platforms.

“Half of our songs are being monetized by other people,” he indicated.

JMJ, however, admitted that they had some revenue from the shows they performed.

“Where we were seeing inflows were direct shows. That is why back then we paid attention to shows more than all of these things,” he said.

Aside from his failure to make money from Kaakie, he also admitted that he did not make money from music production when he first started.

“Some of the things we were doing, we didn’t even think we were going to make money from them. Let me put it this way, I didn’t make money from my music productions.

“There were days and times that I had to pay for the transportation of these artistes so that they could come to the studio to record music,” he said.
