Boxing legend, Azumah Nelson has revealed that he stayed completely away from amorous relationships with women during his prime as a boxer.
“My father once told me that once you become a champion, women will come”.
“So you have to use your head. Sometimes women don’t care what kind of champion you are, but once you are a champion, they will come,” the 56-year-old two-time former WBC super featherweight champion, and former WBC featherweight champion told Kojo Frimpong on the Boys Boys programme on Viasat One.
He added: “Women will always follow, and they have been coming, but you have to be alert and aware; don’t be foolish”.
Azumah is known in boxing circles as 'The Professor' because of his ability to teach his opponents a boxing lesson.
His craft and power still see him widely regarded as the greatest fighter to ever emerge from the African continent.
Nelson, who has been called the greatest African boxer of all time, quit the sport at the age of 40 with a record of 39 wins, five losses and two draws.
