Renowned music producer and artiste manager, Kwesi Ernest, has shared how he battled with depression after releasing his first gospel song.
In an interview with Adom TV, Kwesi Ernest revealed the intense struggles he faced while trying to break into the gospel music scene in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
Ernest recounted how financial strain and unmet expectations turned his dream of producing a successful gospel album into a nightmare.
“The issue of doing gospel music during that period was incredibly tough. I released a gospel album, but the struggle to produce it was a journey between heaven and hell for me,” he said.
Despite support from some church members, the album did not generate the anticipated returns, leaving him in debt and feeling like a failure.
"I thought I was going to make money, but after the album launch, I was left with nothing.
“My mother helped me during this difficult time. I was so depressed that I couldn’t go out," he shared.
