Afrobeats musician King Promise has said he is optimistic about winning the 'Artiste of the Year' award at the upcoming 25th Telecel Ghana Music Awards.
In a conversation on Hitz FM's 'Daybreak Hitz' on May 23, 2024, he expressed confidence in securing victories across all six categories he's been nominated for, including 'Artiste of the Year', 'Afrobeats Artiste of the Year', 'Most Popular Song of the Year', and 'International Collaboration of the Year' for his tracks 'Terminator 2' and 'Perfect Combi', as well as 'Best Afropop Song of the Year'.
Asked to choose between himself and Stonebwoy, who has also been piqued as most likely to win the award, King Promise expressed his confidence in winning the award over anyone else.
“There comes a time where things change, the boys become men, you might have to even go against your legends, so I mean no disrespect but I deserve it,” he said.
When questioned if he would be surprised if he loses the Artiste of the Year category he said, "Yeah, hundred percent," adding, "We've done one hell of a job."
He further stated, "I am not blowing my horn or saying stuff but I feel that this is one of the awards that everyone has spoken about the most in a very long time because you can tell what we have done with all our releases in the past year and the work we've put in just representing the motherland to the rest of the world and worthy face of Ghana music.”
King Promise faces competition from renowned artistes such as Stonebwoy, Kuami Eugene, Sarkodie, Nacee, and Black Sherif.
Following his recent Asian tour, King Promise has dropped a new track called 'Favourite Story', featuring collaborations with Sarkodie and Olivetheboy.
The 25th Telecel Ghana Music Awards is scheduled to take place at the Accra International Conference Centre on June 1, 2025.
