Ghanaian musician Kurl Songx has shared that his exit from the Highly Spiritual record label, led by his mentor, Kaywa, was not an act of betrayal.
Speaking in an interview with Joy Prime, when asked if he felt he had betrayed Kaywa, Kurl Songx hesitated to use the term "betrayal" but admitted that his departure might have been disappointing for his mentor.
"At a point, yes. He will feel down that I left. But I wouldn't say it was betrayal or something intentional," he explained.
Kurl Songx explained that his actions were borne out of the pressures and anxieties faced by emerging artistes, which sometimes lead to hasty decisions.
"When you're coming up as an artiste, the anxiety to do more can make you take moves that you are not supposed to do," he said.
Reflecting on his departure, Kurl Songx admitted that his decision might have been too hasty.
“Papa (Kaywa) has been. Is the one who brought me here. If not for Papa, we wouldn't be here. So I felt like it was too early, you know, I should have waited a while,” he said.
